About a month ago I finally decided to splurge and buy myself a 3D printer. I’ve wanted to get one for a while and it finally seems like I would have a use for it with the mechanics requirements for the Octopod and Smartwatch. The printer I decided on was the Printrbot Simple Metal. It received good reviews on Amazon, it’s not too expensive, and it has a heated bed upgrade on the way. I’ve spent the past month or so tweaking the settings to try and get the best results and have it too a point I’m happy with. Most designs stick well to the painter’s tape I’ve placed on the bed, with the exception of complex and large designs occasionally lifting. Overall I’m very happy with my purchase and look forward to all of the uses I’m sure I’ll be able to find in the coming months.
